So for guys who are not fimiliar with Orkut or Myspace you can check http://www.orkut.com/ and http://www.myspace.com/. I am registered user of both of these websites. Let me tell you how they work. You go to the website you register and you are a part of the world called Myspace or Orkut. You meet old friends make new friends, I was amazed to find my long lost school buddies there....ok so enough of their advertisment the reason why I am writing this is the way these websites gained popularity in differnt parts of world, I mean myspace being extremely popular in UK, US, Europe and other western countries and orkut being a more popular in India, Brazil, Middle East and Eastern Countries, though few of us use both the websites.
So MSN came up with this concept several years ago at the dawn of internet and the reason they targeted western countries was just because those were the countries who had internet in those days. So MSN was successful to be the one to start and was able to capture the whole market, so don't be surprised if you find Justin Timberlake on myspace as even he knows what myspace holds for him. MSN hit the bulls eye becomes the market leader. Here comes google an innovative company, thats y most of them use there search engine not MSN. They did all that MSN had already done so what made them more successful and better? How could they earn billions? The only reason for that was beacuse google explored the unexplored!! MSN could not realise the fact that internet is growing at a lightning pace and so are the number of users in the so called third world countries or the developing countries. They didn't tried to explore the possibilities there. They lost the race. Orkut has billions of users and trust me its much more easier to use as compared myspace. Google always had the tendency to make things simpler. Look at there search engine I mean there presentation is so very simple. When google happened then a common man realised that using internet is no Rocket Science anyways I know it and u know it that MSN is the original still Google is beating the competetion.
While writing this I was thinking of the age old casestudy and example of all the management schools around the world that is Ford v/s Toyota. I can see so many formalties between Ford and MSN both the originals, world beaters, leaders of there Markets and here comes a Japenese company Toyota which is extremely small as compared to its gaint competitor and ends up beating them and becoming world leaders. I know MSN v/s Google or Google v/s Microsoft or Google v/s Yahoo give it any name is going to be the next big case study. So I will like to discuss more on this as I have vitnessed it all happening:)
